Safety Recommendations: Wear a leash, bright clothing, personal flotation device and a hat.
Familiarize yourself with the course. Have an emergency plan. Know basic first aid and CPR.

About The Event:
The Naples Island Swims is an open water swimming competition which began in 1903, held in Alamitos Bay in Long Beach, CA. The event is an excellent venue for beginning, intermediate and expert open water swimmers alike, with race distances of 500 yards, 1 mile and 3 miles.
The Naples Island Swims continue to be one of the best loved aquatic events for the City of Long Beach.
The City of Long Beach has been officially recognized as the Aquatic Capital of America, serving as the destination for a wide range of aquatic sports and activities.
Proceeds from the event will underwrite youth swimming programs in the City of Long Beach.

Pacific Masters Swimming Open Water Series. If you are registered to
USMS/SPMS, you are eligible to earn points for your race. Be sure to
check USMS on your entry. At the end of the season, a high point winner

NEW THIS YEAR: the Start/Finish line and community fair will be located at Anaina Hou Community Park, 5-2723 Kuhio Hwy, Kilauea, HI 96754. The Run/Walk is on the Wai Koa Trail.
Registered runners & walkers receive a free Ohana FitFest hat and Sunday Breakfast Burrito.

Saturday October 17, 3pm - 6pm: Packet Pickup & No-host Happy Hour @ Anaina Hou Sunset Lanai, 5-2723 Kuhio Hwy, Kilauea. Live music starts at 5pm.
We encourage you to pick up your race bib, Ohana FitFest hat, and Sunday Breakfast Burrito ticket at this event to avoid the long check-in lines on Sunday.

Participants will compete in the following age divisions:
Starts at “10 and under” and goes up to “80 and over.”
The top three finishers in each division will receive a commemorative award during the ceremony. Finishers can pick up their awards at the Awards tent located in the Temple area.

All Valley of the Temples 5K Legacy Run finishers will receive a commemorative finisher's medal and T-shirt.
COURSE MAP
The Valley of the Temples 5K Legacy Run is a 5.1-mile run, fully supported with top-notch volunteers and first aid stations along the route. The race begins promptly at 7 a.m. at entrance of the Temple. The course will take you up to the memorial heart shaped garden and continue through the lovely roads of the property and finish crossing the bridge to the Byodo-In Temple.

Parking is available onsite.
There will be an overflow parking area and shuttle buses will be available to bring participants to the event area
Spectators
Friends and family members are welcome to show their support during the and
cheering on participants. As always, please remain respectful of private
property and do not enter the racecourse. Pedestrians are permitted to cross
the course at intersections where race officials are present.
IMPORTANT REMINDERS
The Valley of the Temples 5K Legacy Run starts promptly at 7 a.m.
Be sure to allow plenty of time (45 minutes to an hour) between arrival and start time to walk to the packet pick-up area, use the restroom, check your gear and prepare for the race.
The starting line is located near the entrance of the Byodo-In Temple.
Portable restrooms are located near the start line and restrooms are located in the Byodo-In Tempe grounds.
Race numbers are nontransferable and are nonrefundable. Bibs must be worn in the front by only the participant to whom it is assigned.
